To help the local community and celebrate the Mets making it into the World Series, the Edna Louise Spear Elementary School (along with their student athletes) are holding a Thanksgiving raffle where the grand prize is a jersey signed by Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz.
The raffle kicked off earlier this month after Matz donated his signed jersey to the school through his aunt, an assistant teacher in the Port Jefferson school.
So far, parents and staff have donated $500 toward the raffle. All of the money will be used to purchase food items and supplies for those in need this Thanksgiving.
